John Pepper Memorial Tournament
Now entering our 23rd year, the 2024 John Pepper Memorial Tournament features the youth of the sport with the tournament showcasing the future stars of high school and college lacrosse. This year's John Pepper Memorial Lacrosse Tournament will take place on Saturday, July 27th for grades 1/2 and 3/4 and on Sunday, July 28th for grades 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10.
The tournament was established in 2002 by the Camillus Lacrosse Community in honor and in memory of former West Genesee Junior Varsity lacrosse player, John Pepper who tragically died August 30, 2001. The tournament helps benefit the West Genesee lacrosse program and other local, national and international lacrosse-oriented causes and is dedicated to the Creators gift of lacrosse and to John Pepper and his enjoyment that lacrosse gave to him.
The 2024 John Pepper Memorial Tournament will consist of of 4 teams for grades 1/2 and 3/4 and 8 teams each in grade level 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10 THE GRADES THE BOYS WILL BE ENTERING IN SEPTEMBER 2024 in a festival style format consisting of 3 games for each team. Sportsmanship, respect of the game and camaraderie of all involved are of the highest priority. The Tournaments exemplify these goals and because of these goals, they will continue to be regarded as the “premier” lacrosse events of the summer tournament season.

1-2 & 3-4 - 8 vs 8 – three 50-minute games
5-6 - 10 vs 10 – three 50-minute games

7-8 & 9-10 - 10 vs 10 – three 50-minute games

Divisions of Competition: 1/2, 3/4 in a 8 vs 8 / 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10 in a 10 vs 10
• 4 teams in 1/2 and 3/4 divisions.
• 8 teams in 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 divisions.
Eligibility and team level is based on players entering the upcoming fall 2024-25 school year.
• The John Pepper Tournament promotes fair and competitive competition. The participation of
"Elite" or "All-Star" teams is discouraged.

Rules of Competition: Play will be tournament style using 2024 NYSHS Federation Rules. All games consist of two 20 min running clock halves/ 4 min halftime / 6 minute between games.
​
Number of Games: All levels will play three games in a festival-style format.​
​
Trainers: Professional trainers are on site to tend to any injuries or conditioning needs.

John Pepper Memorial Tournament Details:
​ • Dates and Times: Saturday, July 27th and Sunday, July 28th, first games: 8:00 AM
​ • Location: West Intermediate School. 500 Sanderson Dr, Camillus, NY 13031 (Just west of Syracuse).
​ • 20-minute running time games / 4 minute half time break/ run on a common horn
​ • 2024 NYSHS Federation Rules apply
​ • No timeouts permitted
​ • All penalties are 1 minute running time
​ • Stop time penalties enforced
​ • No more than 3 coaches per team on sidelines​
​ • No long poles for Divisions 1-4

Inclement weather: In the event of inclement weather the governing committee reserves the right to postpone, alter schedules/format or cancel games in the best interest and for the safety of the participants and spectators in attendance. Every effort will be put forth to accommodate the planned full schedule of games within a reasonable period of time to accommodate the needs of the officials and participating teams. The John Pepper Lacrosse Committee also reserves the right to cancel or postpone the tournament in advance due to weather-related or other acts of God. Facility Rules: Tailgating including barbeque grills are not allowed at the facility. The on-site Booster Club concession stand offers a wide variety of options to choose from. Pets are NOT allowed on the school grounds.
